Forest Lake Marsden Rochedale Jimboomba EYLF Curriculum
OUR CURRICULUM
We believe that:
  • The Curriculum must support, stimulate and promote children's interests and reflect children's needs and abilities.
  • The Curriculum should assist children to become successful learners.
  • Children must have time to play, explore ideas, interact with others and make connections with their environment.
  • The Curriculum should involve child initiated as well as intentional teaching experiences.
  • The Curriculum should promote each child's language and literacy abilities; problem solving and mathematical abilities; enjoyment of and participation in the expressive arts through a variety of media; and promote each child's physical abilities.

To achieve these outcomes for your child, our curriculum reflects the key concepts and focus points of age-appropriate National Learning Frameworks.

The Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) aims to extend and enrich children's learning from birth to five years and through the transition to school. The EYLF has a specific emphasis on play-based learning and recognizes the importance of communication and language (numeracy and literacy) and social and emotional development.

The Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guideline is based on the EYLF and supports and enriches children's learning in the Kindergarten Year, that is, the year before the child starts school.

Our Kindergarten Program aims to foster a love of learning so that children become 'active learners'. An 'acitve learner' is a child who is:

  • Competent, capable and creative
  • Secure, connected and respectful
  • Happy, playful and curious
  • Confident, motivated and involved
  • A questioner, problem-poser and problem-solver
  • Empowered to express ideas and make choices about their learning.

My Time, Our Place is the curriculum for School Age Care. This framework is also linked to the EYLF and aims to extend and enrich children's wellbeing and development in school age care.

To promote the healthy development of young children, our Centres have also incorporated the Skill for Kids Program as part of our daily routines. Skill for Kids is a fun based program, suitable for all age groups, that nurtures children's physical, social and emotional skill development.
